ABOUT ME

Education:
BFA, Tehran University, Iran, 1972.
The Higher Diploma in Design, Formerly Manchester Polytechnic, UK, 1973.
PhD, Art Education, University of Oregon, USA, 1992.

I am an Iranian-American freelance designer living in Hacienda Heights, California. Currently I am working on a collection of floor/table/pendant lampshades that are uniquely different from the existing traditional lampshades. They can be viewed on www.instagram.com/myartfacets.

Areas of interest:
3-dimensional art forms, whether of pure aesthetic value or functional, interest me most.

I think the perception of 3D forms from all sides and angles, and the play and effect of light & dark, are the most fascinating aspects of 3-dimensional composition of visual arts.

My works strongly emphasize the pure formal aspects of art. Formalism has had the first and foremost inspiring influence on my designs.

I get immense pleasure, using materials available to me such as paper, fabric, etc., to create forms that can be imaginatively used for many applications.
